We’re building a new consumer brand to disrupt and redefine the workwear category. Starting in boots and apparel, BRUNT is on a mission to make the tools you wear. We have aspirations to build a large, successful business that will stand the test of time. We are well on our way.

Founder Eric Girouard has worked side-by-side with his buddies in the trades, obsessing over how to build a collection of products that makes real workers’ lives easier. BRUNT launched in September 2020 with a core selection of the most comfortable, yet functional workwear in the category, and the consumer reaction has exceeded all expectations.

BRUNT is seeking a smart, results-oriented, highly motivated and opportunistic Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant (title to be commensurate with experience). You will be responsible for managing many areas of the day-to-day accounting functions of the Company, including payables, cash, expenses, prepaids, accruals and fixed assets (flexing based on experience), with the opportunity to grow and expand into more complex areas of accounting. You will also help build out accounting processes and controls, assist in the monthly close process, year-end audit, tax items and compliance, and help with various other ad hoc projects. This role has huge growth potential, with the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and gain insight into cross functional areas of the business within a high growth start-up environment and culture. You will report to the Controller who will provide all the necessary support and guidance to get you off the ground in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for daily work and related journal entries over accounts payable and related expenses, cash, prepaids and fixed assets, and the related monthly close for each of the accounts.
  • Own the payables process to ensure all payables and expenses are properly input, recognized at the proper time and correlate to executed contracts and agreements, working cross functionally with different departments.
  • Assist in the build out of Company policies, processes and controls.
  • Assist in the year-end audit as well as various other off year-end audits as they come up.
  • Work closely with the operations team to assist in inventory accounting.
  • Help implement NetSuite processes and controls, becoming a power user within the system.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and attention to detail, ensuring only the best work is performed.
  • Collaborate across the organization while using best practices in GAAP and accrual accounting.

Key Requirements:

  • Hard working, self-motivated and highly intelligent person who is willing to get in the weeds and learn all facets of accounting from the Controller, offering a huge growth opportunity in a fast-growing start-up environment
  • Ability to learn quickly and grasp the role with oversight from the Controller, with a large opportunity for growth
  • 0-3 years experience in an accounting role as either in house accounting or public accounting (responsibilities/title/comp to be commensurate with experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance
  • Exposure to NetSuite or any other general ledger package (preferred)
  • Strong communication skills
  • A strong desire and ability to take in information and learn all areas of accounting over the course of the job
  • Previous working experience in the accounting realm as well as previous experience working in an office environment (preferred)
  • Strong command in excel and ability to learn and quickly grasp all computer programs essential for the job
  • Ability to tackle several projects simultaneously and work well within a fast-paced and growing organization
  • Ability to commute to our office in North Reading, MA with some hybrid availabilities (in-person preferred)
