Overview
The Sleeve Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring sleeving equipment used in the packaging process. This role ensures that products are properly labeled with shrink sleeves according to quality and production standards. The operator performs routine equipment adjustments, conducts quality checks, and maintains efficient workflow to meet production targets. Attention to detail, adherence to safety guidelines, and the ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently operate and perform changeovers on the Sleever in a timely manner.
- Ensure the Sleever is set to centerline before and after production.
- Work closely with Maintenance during breakdowns to understand Sleever functions and equipment operation.
- Troubleshoot Sleever issues to identify root causes and equipment faults.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to maximize efficiency.
- Maintain factory OEE standards.
- Complete daily Redzone logs and required documentation accurately.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintain an organized work area.
- Communicate operational issues effectively with Plant Leadership.
- Operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner.
- Follow GMP, HACCP, Food Safety, LOTO, Injury & Illness Prevention Program, and company SOP requirements.
- Support safe working conditions for employees and visitors.
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with visitors, employees, and management.
- Safely start up and shut down production lines as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Ability to speak, read, and write English required; Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, climb stairs and ladders, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to excellence through consistent standards and dependable performance.
- Ability to maintain required training compliance.
- Demonstrated competency and knowledge of equipment operation.
- Ability to operate equipment in primary job functions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to gather and analyze information effectively and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to collaborate with team members to accomplish common goals and support customer service standards.
- ERP experience and basic computer knowledge preferred.
- Ability to perform basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division across all units of measure.
- Two years of manufacturing or production experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
This position is classified as Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime) and salary range for this position is $21.00 – $26.00/hour.
