We’re looking for a Sustainment Engineer I to join our Operations Engineering team. As the Sustainment Engineer, you will be responsible for working with our molders to maintain our fleet of injection molding tool sets. You will support supplier quality to perform root cause analysis and drive corrective action and support operations internally by investigating production issues and implementing appropriate solutions. You will act as a technical subject matter expert for internal stakeholders supporting every brand under Collectors.
You’ll report to the Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering and work onsite from our Santa Ana, CA office. Up to 10% of occasional travel to domestic and international vendors and Collectors locations.

This role requires you to be onsite in the office 5 days per week.
What You’ll Do:
Asset Lifecycle Management: Oversee the sustainment and optimization of a high-volume, global fleet of injection mold tooling
New Tooling Integration: Lead the technical support for the design, fabrication, and qualification of replacement tooling to ensure seamless production continuity
Technical Problem Solving: Execute deep-dive root cause investigations for internal production bottlenecks and supplier quality deviations
Standardization & Governance: Author and maintain comprehensive SOPs to ensure process standardization across the sustainment lifecycle
Process Architecture: Design and implement robust internal workflows to streamline the sustainment of physical assets
Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify and pitch data-driven opportunities for product, equipment, and efficiency enhancements
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a technical bridge between Quality, Purchasing, CI, and Manufacturing to hit operational targets
Who You Are:
Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering (Required)
Professional Experience: 0–3 years of proven success in a Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering role
Technical Expertise: Direct experience with the design, maintenance, and material selection of injection molded components and tooling

Preferred Skills: *Hands-on experience with ultrasonic welding processes:
Proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent CAD platforms for design review and troubleshooting.
Background in injection mold tool design is highly desirable

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $87,000. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, experience, and skill set.
