Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and External Reporting

As a Technical Accounting and External Reporting Senior Manager you will report directly to our Senior Director of Technical Accounting and External Reporting. Your responsibilities involve researching and documenting technical accounting topics involving revenue, as well as managing key aspects of our disclosure and reporting processes, including preparing for those that may come with SEC and other regulatory filings. In this role, the Senior Manager will work cross-functionally, including alongside the Revenue Accounting function to collaborate with business partners to make informed business decisions while maintaining accounting compliance. The position will help improve the company’s financial environment and processes and effectively help prepare and position the company to accommodate future growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analyze accounting and financial reporting considerations for complex accounting and reporting topics.

  • Research technical accounting and reporting matters and prepare well-written memoranda and presentations ensuring the appropriate accounting conclusions are reached.

  • Manage the Company's external financial reporting process, including SEC reporting (Form 10-K, 10- Q, 8-K, etc.), compliance and review of the XBRL process, quarterly and annual reporting, and other financial and governmental statutory reporting as required.

  • Work with our Revenue Accounting Team to serve as subject matter experts helping to provide guidance on revenue accounting issues, and new product or service introductions driving business decision making and ensuring proper accounting and disclosure.

  • Collaborate with the revenue accounting function to “operationalize” and document the accounting for non-standard revenue contracts.

  • Remain current on accounting guidance and interpretive literature issued by the FASB or other regulatory bodies in order to document and conclude on accounting topics.

  • Help ensure accuracy and completeness of Dataiku’s accounting policies, including ASC 606 accounting policy, as well as other required memos.

  • Prepare, assess, and conclude on appropriate stand-alone selling prices (SSP) for Dataiku products, both as it relates to annual updates, as well as, new product or service introductions

  • Help ensure compliance with all SEC and US GAAP disclosure requirements, with specific focus on those related to revenue, as well as support (where necessary) the application and reporting of revenue under STAT reporting requirements (ex. IFRS)

  • Work along with the Revenue Accounting team to provide guidance and training to internal teams on revenue recognition principles and practices. Communicate and establish relationships with FP&A, Sales, Deal Desk, Sales Ops, etc. to ensure proper understanding of revenue recognition implications of transactions.

  • Assist in the preparation of the quarterly and annual Board of Directors and Audit Committee packages, where applicable.

  • Review financial information included in the company's external communications, such as those for investor/analyst conferences, earnings calls and releases.

  • Manage and support the annual audit and quarterly review activities with external auditors, including those specifically related to revenue recognition.

Education/Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor (or higher) degree in accounting or finance and an active CPA license

  • 8+ years of experience in public accounting working with SEC registered companies

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and SEC reporting and ability to apply know-how of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, with ability to independently research and document accounting positions and SEC reporting requirements

  • Experience in technical accounting research and drafting technical accounting position memoranda and presentations

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adhere to tight deadlines.

  • Managers are often asked to both manage and individually contribute. Candidates must be motivated, focused, flexible, and be able to work autonomously.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) or Google suite applications

  • Working knowledge of Netsuite (or comparable ERP systems) a plus.

  • Experience with Workiva (or comparable SEC reporting solution) a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The final compensation package for this role will be determined during the interview process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, geographic location, internal equity, education, skill set, experience and training. Eligible roles may also be entitled to receive commission or other variable compensation through Dataiku's incentive compensation program.
