About the role

The Lead Admissions Specialist is a hands-on people leader responsible for driving admissions performance through strong leadership, coaching, and data-informed decision making. In this role, you will lead and develop a high-performing team of Admissions Specialists while, at times, successfully carrying and managing a personal caseload to support business needs. You will apply behavioral health sales expertise to guide families through a thoughtful, patient-centered admissions experience, while holding yourself and your team accountable to quality, conversion, and operational goals. This role requires a leader who can coach and deliver actionable feedback, build trust, foster engagement, and balance team development with business outcomes. The role leads with empathy, owns results, leverages data to drive continuous improvement, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment rooted in evidence-based care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Admissions Specialists to ensure they are meeting metrics, including answering day-to-day questions, onboarding new hires, facilitating team meetings and leading training as needed.

  • Directly field inbound inquiries such as handoffs from the Admissions Inquiry Representatives.

  • At times, responsible for carrying and managing a case load of their own along with leading their team

  • Collect and review reporting and data to lead informed coaching and feedback sessions

  • Collect and document all relevant data into an EMR software in a timely manner.

  • Coordinate interdepartmentally to meet the needs of the patients and families.

  • Utilize problem-solving and sales skills to maintain urgency and drive to seek treatment.

  • Communicate medical criteria and recommendations as made by Equip’s providers.

  • Foster relationships with referring providers by being the “expert” in Equip’s care model.

  • Adhere to HIPAA compliance in the collection of personal health information, insurance information, financial details, and other sensitive information.

  • Ethically and empathetically relate to patients and families throughout the admissions process.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Degree in psychology, business administration, or other health-related fields preferred.

  • 1+ years of direct people management experience or demonstrated experience and ability to coach and mentor others.

  • 3+ years of experience in an admissions for mental health, or customer-facing sales role.

  • Superior interpersonal skills, phone presence, and adept at building strong working relationships.

  • Key analytical abilities to collect, analyze, and use Admissions data to learn and improve.

  • Strong understanding of the healthcare landscape.

  • Organized and results-driven.

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and innovation.

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
