About Etched
Etched is building AI chips that are hard-coded for individual model architectures. Our first product (Sohu) only supports transformers, but has an order of magnitude more throughput and lower latency than a B200. With Etched ASICs, you can build products that would be impossible with GPUs, like real-time video generation models and extremely deep & parallel chain-of-thought reasoning agents.
Job Summary
As Etched scales global deployments of our transformer inference systems, we are seeking an experienced Global Supply Manager to own sourcing and supplier strategy for semiconductors and storage components, including DRAM, HBM, SSDs, and related memory technologies.
You will be responsible for building and managing Etched’s global supply base for critical silicon and memory components — ensuring availability, cost control, and long-term supply resilience in a highly constrained and competitive market. This is a strategic role working closely with hardware architecture, engineering, and manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute sourcing strategies for memory and storage components, including DRAM, HBM, SSDs, and controllers
Build and manage strategic supplier relationships with semiconductor and storage vendors
Negotiate pricing, allocation, capacity commitments, and long-term supply agreements
Partner with Hardware Engineering and Architecture teams to align component choices with supply availability and cost targets
Drive cost modeling, market benchmarking, and forecasting for volatile semiconductor markets
Identify and mitigate supply risks related to capacity constraints, geopolitical exposure, and technology transitions
Coordinate sourcing plans with program schedules, product ramps, and volume forecasts
Monitor market trends and proactively adjust sourcing strategies
Present supply outlooks, risks, and mitigation plans to executive leadership
You may be a good fit if you have
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
7+ years of experience in semiconductor or memory/storage sourcing or commodity management
Strong understanding of DRAM, HBM, NAND, SSD architectures, and supply market dynamics
Experience negotiating long-term agreements and managing allocation-based supply
Strong analytical skills for cost modeling, forecasting, and market analysis
Ability to work closely with engineering teams on component selection and tradeoffs
Proven ability to operate in volatile, constrained supply environments
Experience working with global semiconductor suppliers
Strong candidates may also have experience with
AI accelerator or HPC memory subsystems
Long-term capacity planning and supply assurance strategies
Semiconductor market cycles and pricing dynamics
Startup or high-growth hardware environments
Benefits
Full medical, dental, and vision packages, with generous premium coverage
Housing subsidy of $2,000/month for those living within walking distance of the office
Daily lunch and dinner in our office
Relocation support for those moving to San Jose (Santana Row)
How we’re different
Etched believes in the Bitter Lesson. We think most of the progress in the AI field has come from using more FLOPs to train and run models, and the best way to get more FLOPs is to build model-specific hardware. Larger and larger training runs encourage companies to consolidate around fewer model architectures, which creates a market for single-model ASICs.
We are a fully in-person team in San Jose (Santana Row), and greatly value engineering skills. We do not have boundaries between engineering and research, and we expect all of our technical staff to contribute to both as needed.
