Join us! The GoFundMe team is searching for our next Principal ML Engineer to help oversee end-to-end implementation of machine learning products into our data function. You will collaborate with an accomplished team of individuals to drive impact for our users and our business.
The Job…
- Provide technical leadership and responsibility for guiding the development of machine learning models and collaborating multi-functionally to turn data into actionable insights.
- Work closely with other data scientists, engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders to drive the successful implementation of machine learning projects.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term machine learning strategy and identify opportunities to leverage data for business growth and customer happiness.
- Lead the design, development and deployment of advanced ML models, algorithms, and data pipelines to solve complex problems and improve business processes.

- 12+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, data science, and analytics with a consistent track record of successfully leading complex projects.
- Extensive knowledge of ML algorithms, including a deep understanding of statistical modeling, and Python development tooling and libraries: Pandas, Numpy, Scikit-learn, Pytest, PySpark, SQL, Airflow, MLflow, Hugging Face Transformers, Tensorflow or PyTorch.
- Experience or some exposure to LLMs, either using Open AI API or Open Source models and frameworks like Hugging Face, LangChain, Llama-2, Falcon, Dolly, etc., is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of ML engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skill, with the ability to apply creative solutions to real-world challenges.
- Comfortable experimenting with and incorporating cutting-edge techniques into our existing system.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- A Masters or Ph. D in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science or related field is preferred.
- Sense of humor (optional but appreciated).

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $210,000 - $280,000 + equity + benefits. As this is a remote position, the salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
