About the Team

The Business Operations team tackles high-priority initiatives that span across strategic projects, pricing, partnerships, revenue strategy, and major business and product priorities. Working closely with the COO and business leadership team, we play a pivotal role in advancing OpenAI’s most important initiatives and ensuring the company operates with clarity and focus.

To thrive in this team, you need to be a proactive problem-solver who excels at bringing structure to ambiguous challenges. Our work demands strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and precision in execution. Team members succeed when they are analytical, detail-oriented, skilled at balancing multiple priorities, and passionate about driving high-stakes projects forward to deliver meaningful results.

About the Role

We’re hiring a B2B Lead to help drive forward the strategy and execution of OpenAI’s newest product and commercial efforts. This role will work across product, GTM, and partnerships to translate high-level ambitions into clear strategies and operating plans — helping shape the products we build, the markets we go after, and how we pursue them.

You’ll partner closely with senior leaders across the business to identify opportunities, clarify how each product fits into the broader platform, and ensure our investments ladder up to a cohesive B2B strategy. Your work will range from understanding the product and market landscape — competitors, customer needs, and routes to market — to defining the systems and positioning required to scale new products.

Success in this role means being both an opinionated product thinker and a strategic operator: someone who can get into the weeds on product details and ecosystem dynamics, but also step back and ask whether a product has a clear right to win, a path to adoption, and a line of sight to scaled revenue. You’ll help ensure that our most ambitious product bets are not only technically great — but strategically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with the company’s long-term direction.

This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We operate on a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance.

In this role, you will:

  • Drive strategic and operational workstreams across OpenAI’s B2B organization, partnering with product, GTM, and partnerships to define and execute against key priorities.

  • Conduct market and competitive analyses to identify where OpenAI should play and how we can differentiate.

  • Shape product and go-to-market strategies for new and existing product lines.

  • Develop frameworks for how new products connect to the broader platform and how they ladder up to company-level revenue and adoption goals.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align product strategy, commercial positioning, and ecosystem development.

  • Translate strategic direction into clear operating plans, programs, and metrics that drive measurable progress.

  • Surface insights and recommendations to senior leadership on how we can accelerate impact and strengthen our competitive position.

You might thrive in this role if you:

  • Have 8+ years of experience across consulting, product management, business operations, or similarly analytical roles — including 3+ years operating within a company in a role working directly with product.

  • Are comfortable moving between big-picture strategic framing and detailed product or market analysis.

  • Bring strong product instincts and can connect technical details, customer needs, and market dynamics into clear recommendations.

  • Have experience analyzing new markets, evaluating right-to-win, and shaping go-to-market or product approaches.

  • Are highly analytical and structured, with a track record of bringing clarity to ambiguous or fast-moving problem spaces.

  • Are an excellent communicator who builds alignment across product, GTM, partnerships, and executive stakeholders.

  • Thrive in environments where strategy and execution are tightly coupled — and enjoy turning ideas into operating plans.

  • Are deeply curious about AI, enterprise software, and how new product categories emerge and scale.
