About the Team
OpenAI’s mission is to ensure that artificial general intelligence (AGI) benefits all of humanity. Achieving this goal requires more than cutting-edge research—it demands deep, ongoing engagement with the policymakers, communities, and institutions shaping the future of AI.
The Global Affairs team leads this engagement. We cultivate authentic, collaborative relationships with public officials, regulators, community stakeholders, and the broader AI policymaking community to ensure that diverse perspectives inform our work. By bringing external insights into OpenAI and sharing our own learnings transparently, we help advance thoughtful regulation, responsible industry standards, and governance frameworks that promote the safe and beneficial development of AI technologies.
The role will be based in Washington, DC or San Francisco
About the Role
We’re looking for a highly organized, creative, and mission-driven Project Manager to join our Ideas & Insights team within Global Affairs. This role sits at the center of a fast-moving portfolio of content and engagement initiatives, many of which run concurrently and involve cross-functional partners, consultants, and external stakeholders.
Working closely with colleagues across multiple time zones, you will manage or coordinate day-to-day execution across multiple live, video and written content projects at once. You will bring structure and clarity to complex workflows, maintaining a global editorial calendar, tracking timelines, coordinating inputs and external contributors, and ensuring projects move forward smoothly and on schedule.
Reporting to the Head of Ideas & Insights, this is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, can juggle multiple priorities without losing detail, and enjoys the process of turning ideas into polished, on-time deliverables and events.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate multiple concurrent content and engagement projects, ensuring clear timelines, ownership, and deliverables across internal teams and external partners.
Serve as the operational point person for consultants and vendors, coordinating scopes of work, timelines, inputs, and approvals.
Coordinate and execute internal and external meetings, managing end-to-end logistics across parallel workstreams.
Synthesize insights from research, convenings, and engagements to support internal and external knowledge-sharing and inform future content and strategy.
Organize events, workshops, and engagements with national partners, policymakers, and industry leaders, with an emphasis on economic-focused programming.
Manage a broader team-wide editorial calendar and anticipate bottlenecks, flag risks early, and proactively propose solutions to keep projects on track.
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in project management, program management, content operations, or similar roles involving multiple simultaneous projects.
Demonstrated experience navigating and managing across a broad array of internal stakeholders and external consultants.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track many moving parts without sacrificing quality or deadlines.
Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, actionable insights.
A proactive problem-solver who brings structure, judgment, and calm to fast-paced environments.
Clear and effective communicator, comfortable working across functions, seniority levels, and time zones.
Ability to work independently and across functions while contributing as a trusted partner to a collaborative team.
Interest in the intersection of technology, policy/politics, and news; familiarity with AI, emerging technologies, or regulatory frameworks is a plus but not required.
