We’re hiring a Market Research Analyst to help OpenAI anticipate market shifts, surface actionable insights, and inform strategy across products, launches, and go-to-market efforts. This role blends proactive market sensing with structured research, translating external signals into clear, decision-oriented recommendations for cross-functional teams.

What You’ll Do

Market Monitoring & Insight Generation

• Build and maintain a structured view of key market signals across customers, developers, competitors, and platforms.

• Identify emerging trends early and translate them into implications for OpenAI’s priorities, positioning, and product roadmap.

• Develop repeatable approaches to market sensing that surface meaningful changes before they become obvious.

Competitive & Category Research

• Track competitor activity including product launches, pricing and packaging, partnerships, developer programs, and ecosystem strategy.

• Maintain market maps across segments, key players, routes to market, and evolving customer preferences.

• Produce concise, decision-oriented briefs and readouts for leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.

You Might Thrive in This Role If You Have

• 4+ years of experience in market research or a related field (technology experience preferred).

• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.

• Comfort operating in ambiguity and building lightweight systems to create ongoing visibility.

• Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and succinctly to cross-functional stakeholders.

• Familiarity with developer ecosystems, AI/ML markets, or platform products.

Tools & Working Style

• Experience building dashboards or lightweight analytics views (e.g., Google Sheets, BI tools; basic scripting is a plus).

• Comfortable working across Product, Go-to-Market, Marketing, Communications, and Strategy teams in fast-paced environments.

• Strong judgment and prioritization skills, with a bias toward clarity and action.
