About the Team

The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) team partners across the company to enable safe, compliant, and scalable operations as our work, facilities, and technologies grow globally. We work closely with Engineering, Workplace, Operations, Security, IT, and external partners to design practical safety programs that support innovation while protecting people.

Our approach emphasizes risk-based decision making, thoughtful program design, and strong cross-functional collaboration. We focus on building systems that scale, meet regulatory expectations, and are easy for teams to adopt in fast-moving environments.

About the Role

We are looking for an EHS Program Manager to strengthen and scale safety programs across OpenAI’s corporate office environments. This role focuses on workplace safety, ergonomics, business continuity readiness, emergency preparedness, regulatory compliance, and employee well-being across a fast-growing, highly dynamic organization.

You will partner closely with Workplace, Corporate Security, HR, Real Estate, and international site leads to implement consistent safety frameworks that meet local regulatory requirements while aligning with global EHS principles.

This role requires strong judgment, the ability to operate across multiple regulatory frameworks, and a practical approach to building programs that scale with the organization.

In this role you will:

  • Leading day-to-day EHS programs for corporate office environments across multiple locations

  • Conducting site inspections, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments while driving corrective actions to closure

  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, international regulations, fire codes, and local authorities

  • Developing and maintaining emergency preparedness programs, evacuation plans, business continuity templates, and annual drills

  • Supporting emergency response teams, evacuation wardens, and global readiness assessments

  • Managing and evolving the global ergonomics program, including assessments, equipment guidance, and risk trending

  • Supporting incident reporting, investigations, regulatory tracking, and required compliance documentation and metrics

  • Partnering cross-functionally with Workplace, Corporate Security, Legal, HR, and Real Estate on safety, emergency readiness, and employee well-being initiatives

You will thrive in this role with:

  • 5–8+ years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in corporate, tech, or multi-site environments

  • Experience supporting safety programs across multiple locations or international operations

  • Strong experience conducting workplace risk assessments and implementing practical safety controls

  • Familiarity with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and international safety regulations applicable to corporate office environments

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams

  • Ability to operate independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-growing organization

  • Willingness to travel as needed (approximately 10–20%)
