Big Ideas. Real People.
At Orca, we believe that talent knows no boundaries in the right environment and with the right team. This team spirit, combined with our relentless drive to aim high, has rapidly earned us unicorn status and cemented our position as a global leader in cloud security innovation. If you're ready to join an amazing team of people who inspire each other daily, now is the time to find your place in our pod.

We’re looking for talented, driven individuals like you to join our CTO office and help us achieve our mission of changing the future of cloud security. Are you ready to dive in and swim with our pod?

Highlights:

  • High growth: In just 6 years, we’ve reached milestones that take other companies a decade or more. In the last two years, we’ve doubled our employee count, tripled our customer count, and rapidly expanded our product capabilities.
  • Disruptive innovation: Our founders saw that traditional security didn’t work for the cloud—so they set out to carve a new path. We’re relentless pioneers who invented agentless technology and continue to be the most comprehensive and innovative cloud security company.
  • Well-capitalized: With a valuation of $1.8 billion, Orca is a cybersecurity unicorn dominating the cloud security space. We’re backed by an impressive team of investors such as Capital G, ICONIQ, GGV, and SVCI, a syndicate of CISOs who invest their own money after conducting their due diligence.
  • Respectful and transparent culture: Our executives pride themselves on being accessible to everyone and believe in sharing knowledge with the employees. Each employee has a place in shaping the future of our industry.

About the Role
As the Engineering Enablement & Experience Team Lead, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for streamlining development and operations across Orca Security’s R&D department. Your team will empower 150+ R&D engineers by creating and maintaining internal tools, platforms, and processes that enhance productivity, efficiency, and collaboration.

In this hybrid role, you’ll spend approximately 50% of your time on hands-on software development and DevOps, and the other 50% leading the team, managing projects, and defining the strategic roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development (50% Hands-On)

  • Design & Implement: Develop and maintain critical internal tools, platforms, and pipelines that support developers and DevOps engineers across the R&D organization.
  • DevOps Focus: Oversee CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and operational practices to ensure system stability and scalability.
  • On-call Support: Participate in the team’s on-call rotation to resolve CI/CD issues, support developers, and continuously improve processes.

Product & Project Management

  • Roadmap Ownership: Plan, prioritize, and communicate the evolution of internal tooling in alignment with Orca Security’s technical and business strategies.
  • Sprint Management: Lead sprint planning, backlog grooming, and resource allocation to deliver continuous improvements.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with R&D leads to gather requirements, remove blockers, and keep the organization informed of updates and enhancements.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Team Development: Mentor and guide a diverse team of engineers, fostering a culture of growth and learning.
  • Culture & Collaboration: Promote accountability, innovation, and alignment with company goals while supporting the team’s autonomy.
  • Performance Management: Conduct regular 1:1s, provide feedback, and manage performance reviews to support team success.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • R&D Impact: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Security, QA, and Product, to ensure seamless workflows.
  • Visibility & Communication: Present progress, challenges, and successes to leadership and the broader organization.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive retrospectives, post-mortem reviews, and feedback loops to refine technical implementations and team processes.

About You

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within an R&D or DevOps context.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, Go).
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, combining empathy with clear direction.
  • Strong communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement and knowledge sharing.
  • Data-driven decision-making is highly valued.
  • Passion for developer productivity and an interest in tools, automation, and process improvements.
  • A strategic thinker who balances technical depth with business-focused decision-making.
  • Pragmatic and action-oriented—prioritizing shipping over perfection.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Why You’ll Love Working at Orca Security

  • High Impact: Your work will directly enhance the productivity of 150+ R&D teammates, empowering them to deliver industry-leading security products.
  • Ownership & Autonomy: Lead a trusted, self-directed team that shapes critical internal systems, processes, and DevOps practices.
