About the Role:
The FinOps Engineer is responsible for scaling cost management best practices and driving cost optimization to enhance our financial performance on the cloud. You will play a key role in developing processes to work with large data sets, presenting, automating, and streamlining cloud financial scorecards and reports. This role bridges the gap between R&D, DevOps, and Finance teams, providing visibility into cloud costs and building accurate forecasts. The ideal candidate will lead cloud cost optimization initiatives, increase productivity, and ensure financial excellence.

The FinOps Engineer is responsible for scaling cost management best practices and driving cost optimization to enhance our financial performance on the cloud. You will play a key role in developing processes to work with large data sets, presenting, automating, and streamlining cloud financial scorecards and reports. This role bridges the gap between R&D, DevOps, and Finance teams, providing visibility into cloud costs and building accurate forecasts. The ideal candidate will lead cloud cost optimization initiatives, increase productivity, and ensure financial excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
On a typical day, you will:
- Automate and generate monthly cloud cost reports to provide insights into financial standings.
- Analyze, optimize, and implement cost-saving actions across multiple cloud providers.
- Collaborate with Finance and Legal teams to negotiate contracts, cost terms, and budgets.
- Implement and manage automated tools to monitor and optimize cost trends.
- Configure and manage cloud cost optimization tools for improved efficiency.
- Design and build dashboards to support product owners, DevOps engineers, and executive-level requests.
- Develop visibility and forecasting models to predict future cloud costs and align budgets with operational needs.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of cloud commitments, including Savings Plans and Reserved Instances (RIs), to maximize cost savings.
About You:
- 2-3 years of experience as a FinOps Engineer or in a similar role.
- Hands-on experience with SQL (mandatory) and Python (basic).
- Expertise in AWS services (e.g., EC2, RDS, Elasticsearch) , working knowledge of Azure and GCP and Kubernetes.
- Superior analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills.
- Proven experience working with at least 10 R&D teams.
- Strong self-starter who collaborates effectively within a team environment.
- Analytical mindset with hands-on experience in cloud demand forecasting and cost optimization.
- Experience with third-party cloud cost optimization tools such as Finout, AWS Cost Explorer, or CloudHealth.
- Proficiency in data visualization tools like Looker and Grafana.
- Familiarity with BI and automation tools to streamline cost management workflows.
- Ability to design and manage dashboards for various stakeholders, including executives, product owners, and DevOps engineers.
