The Role

Location: While this position is posted in a specific location, all of Oyster’s positions are fully remote, and you can work from home. Forever. To create the best experience for our new hire, this role requires that you be based in +1/ +2 UTC timezone.

We are seeking a skilled Payroll Implementation Specialist to join the Global Payroll Centre of Excellence team. This team operates within the Payroll Operations team, collaborating closely to guarantee timely and accurate payment for our customers’ team members.

In this implementation-focused position, you will be the primary contact for our expanding global customer base. Working closely with country-specific Payroll Specialists, you will oversee the configuration of each customer’s payroll according to their requirements, ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Your experience in payroll migrations and proficiency with various payroll systems will be instrumental in ensuring the success of this crucial role. Join us in driving our global payroll operations forward and contributing to our continued growth.

Key Responsibilities

Project Support and Coordination

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and clients to support the implementation of new customer payrolls.

  • Assist in creating, updating, and tracking project plans for the successful roll-out of Global Payroll solutions across various countries.

Client and Project Management

  • Participate in internal and external client calls.

  • Collect and document payroll requirements to support payroll migration and implementation.

  • Assist in guiding customers through technical payroll implementation tasks.

  • Support management of scope changes and delivery timelines as needed.

System Set-up and Parallel Payroll Processes

  • Assist in configuring interfaces, reports, and system configurations to enable parallel and live payroll runs for the initial launch period.

  • Support payroll data migration activities from legacy systems to new payroll platforms.

  • Help execute testing plans to check and escalate system issues to ensure a smooth transition to the new payroll system.

Go-live Transition

  • Help document client-specific needs and support project sign-off with customers.

  • Assist clients throughout the initial go-live phase.

  • Track and help ensure data quality and accuracy for at least two months post-migration.

  • Generate and review reports to help audit and reconcile payroll data.

Communication

  • Serve as the main point of contact for customers’ payroll project queries and information requests.

  • Prepare and share regular status updates, and escalate issues as needed.

  • Participate in client calls to discuss project progress, risks, issues, and actions.

  • Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other internal teams to gather payroll requirements at both global and local levels.

Core Requirements

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience with a good understanding of payroll principles, basic tax mechanics, and benefits administration (multi-country experience desirable but not required).

  • 3+ years of experience supporting payroll implementation or system transitions, with exposure to end-to-end processes.

  • Understanding of payroll migration and system implementation processes.

    • Strong organizational skills with attention to structure and deadlines.

    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in data handling.

    • Project management experience.

  • Experience handling multiple smaller projects at once.

  • Proven experience working with internal and/or external stakeholders, including HR, Finance, Accounting, and Treasury teams.

  • Ability to work collaboratively across remote or distributed teams.

  • Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets; able to use formulas and organize data (e.g., VLOOKUP, simple PIVOT TABLES).

  • Ability to rapidly analyze and manage data with care and accuracy.

  • Familiarity with BI tools (such as Looker)

  • [Bonus] Experience with Alteryx.

  • [Bonus] Experience with payroll operations in more than one country.
