Job Description:

This senior operational leadership role oversees Radiology services across Essentia Health’s East Region, including St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, Essentia Health-Virginia, Essentia Health-Moose Lake, Essentia Health-Sandstone, and affiliated clinics. Partnering closely with the Radiology Section Chair and hospital, clinic, and medical leadership, you will lead the operational, financial, and people performance of a comprehensive imaging program spanning CT, MRI, Interventional Radiology, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, Ultrasound, General X-ray, and DEXA services.

Education Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Technology, Business, Health Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the operations, financial performance, and quality of Radiology services across multiple hospital and clinic sites in the East Region.
  • Partner closely with the Radiology Section Chair and with hospital, clinic, and medical leaders to align imaging services with system priorities and clinical strategy.
  • Own financial planning, budgeting, and productivity for the imaging service line, with accountability for volume, financial, patient experience, and employee engagement targets.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of imaging managers and front-line leaders across multiple sites, building clarity around scope, decision rights, and outcomes.
  • Oversee technical management of imaging modalities and equipment, including capital planning, lifecycle replacement, and new service development.
  • Drive process improvement and operational efficiency across sites, identifying opportunities to standardize and elevate the care experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and safety standards governing diagnostic imaging.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging services.
  • Provide strategic and operational consultation to other East Region facilities on imaging program development.

What You Will Need:

  • 10+ years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated success leading operational, financial, and people performance across multiple sites or service lines.
  • Experience managing financial planning, budgeting, and productivity targets for a hospital service line.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to build trust across medical, operational, and corporate leadership.
  • Demonstrated success leading change and building accountability into teams undergoing structural shifts.

What Makes You a Strong Fit:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related discipline.
  • Current working knowledge of CT, Interventional Radiology, General Radiology, Mammography, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and Ultrasound procedures and equipment.
  • Background in radiologic technology or clinical imaging operations.
  • Experience leading service-line operations spanning rural and urban facilities in a regional health system.
  • Comfort being a thought partner to physician leaders and senior operations executives.
  • Background in capital equipment planning, workflow design, or capacity management for imaging.

Work Location:

  • This role is based at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN or Essentia Health-Virginia in Virginia, MN, with regular travel across East Region sites (Brainerd, Virginia, Moose Lake, Sandstone, and affiliated clinics).
  • Candidates located in Minnesota, North Dakota, Wisconsin, Iowa, or South Dakota are strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must reside in or be willing to relocate to a state where Essentia Health is authorized to employ.
  • We are unable to employ candidates residing in California, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, or Colorado.
