Job Description:

The Cultural Health Navigator will provide cultural and spiritual care for Indigenous patients and their families in the inpatient environment. In addition to direct patient care, this role will prioritize collaboration with the care team to foster culturally aligned care for our Indigenous patients.

Education Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing cultural knowledge, resources, and support for cultural and spiritual well-being, and assisting patients as they navigate their health care experience in an inpatient setting
  • Facilitating connections between patients and the local Indigenous community
  • Collaborating with the care team to ensure that patients' spiritual and cultural needs are honored
  • Consulting with Essentia colleagues on culturally appropriate care and best practices

Education Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications:

  • Understanding of the region’s tribal, cultural, and spiritual traditions
  • Previous experience in advocating for the needs of Indigenous people and building relationships with Indigenous communities, organizations, and tribal governments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in healthcare, social services, education, or criminal justice settings
