Director of Logistics and Customer Operations

Siete Family Foods

Siete Family Foods

Customer Service, Operations
Austin, TX, USA
Posted on Nov 10, 2023
“Logistics” as defined by our family, is: making breakfast tacos with the perfect ratio of fillings to salsa; landing corny jokes like the guy who posted bad dad jokes in his front lawn for passersby; and successfully coming up with any excuse to eat delicious food together. Our ideal Director of Logistics and Customer Operations would agree with this definition, and may even contribute the following specs: heading warehouse operations and order fulfillment for eCommerce and retail distribution; championing and leading your team to success; and optimizing freight strategy. Additional jokes about pallets (palettes, and paletes) are a bonus. If this sounds like you, our family would love to chat with you!

About you:

  • Leadership and people management are your bread and butter—er...chips and guac, chili and lime, or rice and beans.
  • Like a clairvoyant fortune teller (or one especially impressive fortune cookie), you see all the details and the big picture, at times with limited information and resources. What’s more, you use this foresight and vigilance to problem-solve!
  • You communicate effectively verbally and in writing, like your favorite teacher from grade school. Only without the pointing stick, old-school projectors, and grape-scented markers.
  • Friends and family don’t call you “Ole Hawk Eyes” for nothing—you’ve got the ability to perform and execute accurately and swiftly in a detailed-oriented environment.
  • You’ve got excellent organizational and time management skills. If you could become an office supply, you’d be a hybrid between an accordion binder and a portable hourglass.
  • Financial Management is a part of your everyday routine, right up there with thermoses of coffee and funny delivery memes.
  • Some people are born with an intense love for (or aversion to) pineapple on pizza, cilantro, and licorice just like you were born with a “safety is non-negotiable” mentality. It’s a beloved part of your identity!

What you will do:

  • Responsible for all Warehouse, Logistics, and Customer Operations.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the Warehouse, Logistics, and Customer Operations teams.
  • Own the negotiation strategy and execution of contracts with 3PL and Transportation partners, gaining alignment with the Siete Executive Team and collaborating with Legal on execution.
  • Spearhead external quarterly business reviews with 3PLs and Transportation partners.
  • Develop and ensure the successful execution of cost savings initiatives, including negotiations on pricing reductions for Warehousing and Transportation.
  • Lead the Logistics and Customer Operations team in setting and achieving annual goals and KPIs.
  • Define strategic initiatives related to managed Transportation partners, oversee the implementation, and measure success.
  • Responsible for inventory management and accuracy at Warehouse locations in network.
  • Own Customer Operations and the on time fulfillment of orders to retailers and distributors.
  • Analyze Warehouse and delivery opportunities to produce solutions to ensure continuous improvement of on time delivery and costs.
  • Develop annual and long-term plans to support growth of business.
  • Travel an average of 15% of the time.

Your experience:

  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience within Operations and Logistics.
  • Experience with a warehouse management system or other business operations system such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle is a must.
  • Food CPG experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with transportation management systems and dock scheduling software is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of warehouse safety and OSHA laws; 30-hour OSHA Certification is a plus.
