Oh the demand outside is frightful, but excel is so delightful, and since we’re to guess-‘n-go, let it queso, let it queso, let it quesoooo! If you were able to keep tune to our latest rendition of “Let It Queso,” as you read that just now, well done. If you were able to relate to it—even better! You see, we’re looking for someone who: loves living ‘on the grid’ (and by ‘on the grid’ we mean ‘in Excel’); likes data more than Data from The Goonies; like a seasoned weather-forecaster, has perfected the art of making educated guesses and approximations about forecasts based off historical trends; describes themself as a “Mathy” (aka a mathematical person, but you already knew that, didn’t you?); and would give just about anything to have an excuse to wear an umbrella hat for work everyday (jokes!). If you fit the forecast, we think you may be a great candidate for our Demand Planner, and we’d love to hear from you.
About you:
- If you could order your role like you order food off a menu, you’d order data and numbers, every time.
- If you had to describe your internal dialogue, you might reference the two ever-speculating, ever-investigating characters of Curious George and Velma Dinkley to explain your inquisitive mindset.
- You know how to crack the whip, tighten the loose screws, and grease lightning to obtain customer information in a timely manner for supply planning.
- Solving problems is your bread and butter—nay, your chips and guac.
- To you, chaos is a state of mind, not a reflection of your surroundings; but, in either situation, you’re cool as a cucumber and “thriving,” as kids say.
- Demonstrated success working with cross-functional teams (Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain)
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain accurate weekly sales order forecasts.
- Analyze and use historical data, channel inventory, market trends, and other information to generate reliable sales order forecasts.
- Explain the rationale and assumptions behind the sales order forecasts, communicating key drivers and uncertainties.
- Maintain the parameters and logic used by planning tools to convert the consumption forecast into the sales order forecast.
- Partner with Sales Operations to define KPIs and processes to ensure the quality of the consumption forecast.
- Monitor, track, and report on forecast accuracy, bias, and other key performance indicators. Perform root-cause analyses and implement recovery plans for underperforming SKUs.
- Leverage market data, competitive intelligence, and other external information to improve demand planning key performance indicators continuously.
- Communicate volume and assumptions changes within the sales forecast to cross-functional stakeholders within Finance, Sales, Supply Planning, etc.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, and Supply Planning to manage the timing of sales orders, ensure alignment with supply availability, and accurately reflect the needs in planning tools.
- Partner with assigned customers to monitor and manage channel inventory levels.
- Work with Supply Planning and Commercialization to develop inventory strategies for existing products, new launches, and phase-outs.
- Represent Demand Planning as a critical stakeholder in the S&OP process and any other assigned project, identifying gaps and driving process improvements.
- Monitor and track the functionality and accuracy of planning tools. Identify opportunities for improvement and drive change to enhance demand planning and supply chain efficiencies.
- Drive change, innovation, and automation of demand planning-related processes. Identify and implement process improvements, advanced analytics, and technology solutions to enhance demand planning and supply chain efficiency.
Your experience:
- A minimum of 4 years of demand planning experience is required
- Previous CPG experience is required
- Advanced Excel proficiency with a proven ability to work with complex data and develop clear, actionable recommendations is required
- Previous experience with Anaplan or similar demand planning/S&OP tools is preferred
- Experience leading or supporting process improvements or change initiatives is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Engineering, Economics, or related field is preferred
