The Role:

The Direct-to-Consumer Director will be pivotal in shaping and executing Stella & Chewy's online DTC strategy, focusing on maximizing our presence and performance on our own site. This role involves a blend of strategic planning, hands-on management, and creative execution, ensuring that our brand not only meets but exceeds our online sales goals. Reporting directly to the VP of Ecommerce, you will collaborate closely with various teams to enhance our online visibility, engage our customers, and drive sales growth.

Who We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with a deep understanding of ecommerce dynamics, especially within the pet industry, or other subscription driven businesses. You have a proven track record of managing successful online sales strategies, are adept with Shopify Pro and the Shopify App ecosystem. Your creative approach to online marketing, combined with your ability to analyze and leverage data, makes you a formidable force in ecommerce. Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the website channel P&L including net revenue, volume, gross margin, contribution profit, and operating expense.
  • Lead CRO initiatives to improve website conversion rates and maximize sales.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive DTC ecommerce strategy to achieve ambitious revenue and growth targets.
  • Bring to life an immersive, educational on-site experience for our Pet Parent shoppers that seamlessly ties to the off-site brand & consumption experience
  • Oversee all aspects of the DTC website, including user experience, site merchandising, product presentation, content development, and checkout optimization.
  • Define and curate the digital customer experiences including personalization, recommendations, rewards, emails, and partnering with the social media team.
  • Demonstrate a strategic and broad view of the business, industry, and consumer environment to anticipate and plan for the future.
  • Analyze website performance data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, and make data-driven decisions to optimize conversion rates, average order value, unit economics, and customer lifetime value.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., marketing, product development, operations, customer service) to ensure seamless integration of ecommerce activities with overall business objectives.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in ecommerce, digital marketing, and customer experience, and adapt strategies to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Help define the technical structure of the site (design, content, navigation, information architecture, and functionality) to drive business growth.
  • Establish a culture of experimentation to efficiently grow the performance media budget in an ROI-positive way
  • Position products and develop an annual channel calendar that synergizes with cross-functional initiatives (new product launches, new advertising campaigns, etc.) to drive recruitment and repeat purchases through the website channel
  • Develop a highly segmented, targeted CRM strategy and loyalty program that will maximize the lifetime value of the customer and minimize chum. Analyze, measure, and adjust programs on customer behavior and response
Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Proven track record of success in leading and scaling ecommerce operations for a high-growth DTC brand.
  • Deep understanding of ecommerce best practices, including website design, user experience, online marketing, and conversion rate optimization.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Experience with popular ecommerce platforms and tools (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Google Analytics).

Preferred :

  • Experience in the pet industry or a subscription driven industry.
  • Proficiency in ecommerce tools and platforms, especially Shopify.
  • Experience working with/managing agencies and holding them accountable for KPIs.
  • Creative thinker with experience in developing and executing strategies.
  • Proactive, results-oriented mindset, with a track record of driving growth in a fast-paced environment.
  • P&L Experience.
