About this role 

\n

You will be a key member of the design leadership team here at Udemy, reporting to the VP of Design & Research and influencing the overall design strategy for a diverse, global team. As the Design leader for Udemy’s learners’ experiences, you will bring your diverse background and experiences to lead products and features used by millions of learners globally. This team is focused on building best-in-class UX for Udemy’s rich learners’ experience, which sits at the heart of all of Udemy’s product offerings.

You will help champion the needs of learners and instructors who are focused on refining and building new professional skills, a key need identified by our 10,500+ Udemy Business partners around the world. You will build and lead a design team that partners closely with product managers, researchers, engineers, marketers and content strategists to prioritize, create, and ship simple, elegant, and easy to use features across all platforms. You will be leading the team to high quality and state-of-the-art design work with your keen design sense and leadership experience. Udemy and our global UX team are thriving, and you’ll play an influential role in recruiting and hiring designers for your team and beyond.

What you'll be doing:

  • Provide design leadership across all projects within the Learners’ Experience team to maximize impact for our learners, instructors, and business partners
  • \n
  • Contribute to design processes and internal project planning for the Learners’ Experience team and Udemy’s product design team
  • \n
  • Partner closely with stakeholders across the company to ensure seamless introduction of new products and features with top-notch user experience
  • \n
  • Oversee the execution of projects to ensure project goals and timelines are met
  • \n
  • Build partnerships with Udemy Business and Udemy’s consumer product teams to keep learning at the heart of our work
  • \n
  • Own and evangelize the design and experience vision for our learner experience
  • \n

What you’ll have

    \n
  • 10+ years of experience in UX, product design and visual design for web and mobile based products. Experience with other device classes is a plus.
  • \n
  • 5+ years of experience managing product design teams
  • \n
  • Experience with user research, design process, design systems and tooling, early usability studies, iterative approach to product development and deployment.
  • \n
  • A Track record of leading your team through product releases with user facing design from start to finish.
  • \n
  • Experience with building UX for AI solutions, subscription services or e-learning experiences is a plus.
  • \n
  • Superior communications skills, ability to facilitate a diverse room of stakeholders and inspire cross-departmental collaboration
  • \n
