Job Description
The SVP of Merchandise Planning & Allocation will drive the development of strategic merchandise/inventory plans and initiatives that support the merchandising, production, marketing, supply chain, and financial objectives. Will serve as a primary leadership role and act as a thought partner for the President to validate and prioritize which strategies to pursue and execute. Responsible for achieving the company's sales and gross margin objectives through development of merchandise plans and optimal utilization of inventory. Partner with Merchandising to develop strategic plans to achieve the company's financial objectives.
What you'll get to do:
- Partner with Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leaders to identify opportunities and strategic initiatives to drive bottom-line and top-line growth.
- Operate as the financial lead for Merchandising. This includes key financial metrics, achievement of financial parameters, and leading the business to make profitable merchandise decisions.
- Participate as a member of the brand executive team, partnering with other business unit leaders on all major brand initiatives.
- Develop and set short-term and long-term merchandise planning and allocation goals and metrics to achieve prescribed growth plans and company objectives.
- Oversees total company inventory management across all channels to ensure adequate volume/inventory levels and achieve sales and margin, including identifying opportunities for OTB, chase, cancellations, markdown, and cross-channel/warehouse utilization.
- Lead the Merchandise Planning team in the development, analysis and revision of sales, inventory, markdowns, receipts and profit.
- Ensure that merchandise plans align with financial forecasts and implement the most profitable strategies to meet corporate sales and inventory targets while delivering commercial channel business needs.
- Maintain risk assessment models that are used to determine buy levels and maintain profitability to budgets.
- Drive allocation strategies, processes and procedures to achieve the financial objectives; update and improve as needed to accommodate increased complexities.
- Recommend and implement transformational technology to support ongoing improvement in process and efficiency based on the demands and growth of the business.
- Propose and deliver business recaps and financial strategies in key milestone meetings.
- Operate as a supporter and change agent for new system processes and implementations.
Qualifications
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or equivalent years of experience preferred.
- 15+ years’ proven work experience in Inventory Management, Buying and/or Demand and Supply Planning.
- Proven ability to manage, interpret and report on financial metrics such as margin, forecast reconciliation, inventory purchase plan reconciliation, inventory turns, life cycle management and style productivity.
- Demonstrated record of successful working with senior leadership.
- Experience with greige forecasting, fabric liability and other responsive supply chain structures.
- Extremely proficient in Excel.
- A hands-on problem solver with a willingness to work in the details and find opportunities to change processes to drive efficiency.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to change and new processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively across several cross functional teams.
- Proven track record in building processes in a high growth environment.
- Familiarity with Demand and Supply planning or relevant software.
- Prior experience working within or implementation of an ERP planning environment preferred.

The salary range for this role is $360,000 per year - $400,000 per year. This role is bonus eligible.
